We have added a Volunteers Wanted Menu button to our Home Page to inform vintageTEK Museum Members of our needs for Volunteers. We have a solid group of regular volunteers who repair and refurbish instruments and bench test equipment, organize our inventory, maintain out IT resources, organize our library resources, scan our vintage negatives and photos, and provide bookeeping services. Not to mention the wonderful folks that attend to visitors, and give the founders a day off now and then to attend to families or their other hobbies. We still have plenty of needs there. For example, we intend to scan 40 years of TekWeeks, and make them available via our website - fully searchable!
These volunteers do not necessarily have to be ex-Tek, and unless the job description requires a Portland or Museum presence, we will entertain remote volunteers. For example, our acting Webmaster is John Simmons, an ex Tek Field guy living in Georgia. Also, there are volunteers working from home. For example, one of our key engineers is compiling an Excel spreadsheet listing every Tektronix instrument that made the catalogs from 1945-1985!
Please suggest to your friends that we have a neat group of people working Fridays and Saturdays to work and greet visitors. And, we always have FREE fresh donuts and coffee.
