Field Engineers were the main sales force for many of the Tektronix products on display at the museum. They were trained to fit the right product to customers application and train the customers to use the product. In addition, they were trained to service the products and carried a tool kit with spare parts. These skill sets help them obtain a customer loyalty and access that competitors found hard to overcome.
This September 28, 1959 TekTalk cartoon illustrates all the traits of a good Field engineer.
