575 Curve Tracer for the SIGNALS museum
Kyle Owen visited the museum from Alabama where he is a volunteer at the SIGNALS museum. SIGNALS is a communication technology museum located in Huntsville. It provides a hands-on, immersive experience where guests can explore, interact, and learn about communication technologies throughout history. Kyle is primarily responsible for the vintage computer and teletype exhibits. He and Doug Ingraham came in with volunteer Vince Slyngstad to demo the repaired VC8E board for the PDP-8/E which drives the 611 storage display model. They were able to demonstrate several games on our PDP-8/E.
Kyle was looking for a curve tracer to aid in restoration at the museum. Doug had driven and was willing to transport it back to Chicago where he will meet Kyle to drive it to Huntsville. That eliminates the challenge and expense of shipping these large instruments, but we needed to located a 575 in reasonably good condition right away, which we were able to do.
This photo shows Kyle with his working 575 curve tracer leaving the vintageTEK museum. Be sure to check out the SIGNALS museum if you are ever in Huntsville.
