Tektronix 650 High Resolution Monitor In Vogue Magazine
Vogue magazine has published a "high fashion and lifestyle" magazine continuously since 1892. For a reason that completely escapes us, the March 1977 issue featured a Tektronix 650 NTSC video monitor being destroyed by a woman wearing a pair of high heels. This was part of an article featuring the latest in fashion sandals.
The caption was as follows: "The killer! Great looking legs in bare, beautiful sky-high mules - Geoffrey Beene's sensational copper-reptile evening sandals. About $95 ($478 in 2024 dollars) at Delman at Bergdorf Goodman; Swanson's on the Plaza; Balliets; Neiman-Marcus.
The accompanying photos featured similarly attractive legs and expensive footwear, but no broken glass.
We thank ex-Tek and museum contributor, Charles Osborne, who prompted our search for an original copy. Charlie recalls the Patents and Licensing people were furious. We're just confused.
