567 Digital Readout Sampling Oscilloscope
Several museum volunteers have been working to restore our 567 Digital Readout Sampling Oscilloscope. This oscilloscope was first introduced in 1962 although this configuration of plug-ins didn't occur until 1968.
The 6R1A digital plug-in unit is used to measure waveform characteristics such as rise time, amplitude, or time difference. The digital unit provides a go/no-go output based on waveform characteristics making it useful in production testing.
There were approximately 1930 oscilloscopes produced with a latest serial number of 003280. This serial number is 003225 making it among the last 55 units produced. The price of this configuration in 1968 was $5650, or 52,191 in today's dollars.
Volunteer Tom Goodapple restored the oscilloscope function. Volunteer Bob Puckette is restoring the digital readout plug-in. It is operational but not fully verified. This is a great instrument to add to our exhibit area.
There are quite a few plug-in boards in the 6R1A plug-in.
